Here I Go!

Okay, so I decided to go ahead and just keep a blog of my thoughts on books, my kids, life, knitting and crocheting, and if no one reads it, that's okay! I'm basically just doing it for ME, to kind of get a feel for it, and to see if it's something that I want to continue doing. I love books, and I really love discussing books, so I think I will like that aspect of it. I also love to knit and crochet, so I may mention that on here, too. But that's not all, folks! I'm also a mother to 6 children and a grandmother to 1. There's enough fodder in that to keep me going for years, let me tell you! My oldest daughter, Nicole, is 27 and is retired from the Air Force. She was medically discharged when she hurt her ankle and ended up with nerve damage after 2 surgeries on it. She's enrolled at Ohio State University (Go Bucks) in the pre-vet program and doing great! My oldest son, Andy, is 25 and is going to business college. I'm so proud of him because he never did really well in high school, but he's on the Dean's list in college! My next daughter is actually my previous step-daughter, Amberlin, and she's 24. When her father and I divorced, I got her in the divorce, and I figure I'm the lucky one because she's an amazing girl! She's married and has started her own photography business. My next two boys are AJ (15) and Lincoln (10) with Amberlin's father. They live with him (that's a really long, bitter story that I'm not even going to get into now!), but they are still my little boys! Last but not least is my 5 year old son, JJ, or as I call him - "God's surprise gift"! Don't believe the doctors when they say you can't get pregnant any more because you had cervical cancer and half of your cervix is gone - trust me when I say "YOU CAN!!" LOL I love him to death, although having a 5 year old when you are 47 yourself can be a bit taxing, and I wouldn't trade him for the world. He has ADHD and behavioral problems so I have chosen to homeschool him, and I really think that's the best choice for us. He loves learning, but if he was forced to sit still at a desk in a traditional school, he would learn to hate it very quickly I think. Then there's my 3 year old grandson (Andy's son), Michael. Andy and Michael's mother (Marissa) aren't married, and she likes to play games using Michael as the prize, so we don't get to see him nearly enough. He's a character, too!

As for me, I've been married 3 times, and unfortunately the third time was not the charm for me. I'm separated from JJ's father now. I don't plan on getting married again, though! Been there, done that, failed miserably! I live with Nicole, Andy and JJ in an apartment in Columbus, Ohio. I don't work outside of the home because I'm disabled (following 5 back surgeries that screwed up the nerves in my back with scar tissue). In a nutshell, I'm a Christian, mother, grandmother, reader, knitter and crocheter. I homeschool my son and I love to connect with and meet new people. I think if I decide to continue with this blog, I won't want for material to write about!

If anyone actually reads this, thank you so much for taking the time! I'm sure I don't have anything new or wise to say, but I really like the idea of putting down my thoughts on paper (so to speak). I am currently working on 2 knit projects and one crochet. I review books for NetGalley and also for authors and publishers when they contact me, and my review list is at around 150 right now! I'll try to write more about the books I'm reading later this week and I will post the reviews here from now on. I'm actually pretty excited about that!

Thanks for reading,

Julie
